For this assignment I was asked to take a photograph of a person but portray their personality through it. In the photograph is my main subject, Justin. His personality is very childlike and spontaneous, however he's very large and manly on the outside. With this, I wanted to incorporate both his child and man-like tendencies together. For the shoot I had Justin tie his sweater around his waist like children tend to do. I also had Justin carry around a pinwheel (which symbolized his child characteristics) and just let him freely pose with it and be spontaneous. In order to address his manly characteristics I made sure that he had a partial beard as well as have his facial expressions be aggressive looking. I feel that overall mt photograph does work because It includes what I wanted to portray, It has a nice white as well as a nice solid black, the lines in the background lead the viewers eye to and from my main subject as well as the angle my subjects body is making, and my photograph follows the rule of thirds. If I did have to change some things about the picture I would say that I should have portrayed his child personality a bit more, and fix the lighting on his forehead because there are weird shadows being cast on it by his hair.

Period 2 First Assignment: Outdoor Portraits
For this assignment we were asked to practice taking pictures with our slr cameras, since it was our first day shooting. We had to include some elements of design as well as follow the rule of thirds. For my photo, I used Nic as my model and incorporated the use of lines to keep the viewers eyes looking around the whole picture and not become bored. These lines can be seen on the background, his shirt and his elbow as well. I feel that overall my photograph does work because it has nice contrast and the lines lead to the main subject of my photograph; which is Nics face.
